Baker Residence
The 401K. A Brigadier General's retirement plan made concrete: a G+8 apartment building that must simultaneously perform as income engine, owner's residence, and neighbourhood landmark. The brief collapses three usually competing ambitions into a single building mass in Jolshiri Abashon, Narayanganj.
The building stacks a ground-floor reception and parking podium beneath five typical apartment floors, capped by two bespoke duplex units for the client and family. The duplex typologies diverge in plan: Duplex 1 opens to a generous terrace; Duplex 2 commands a double-height formal living sequence. A multi-purpose hall crowns the roof. Throughout, room proportions are calibrated to Bangladeshi apartment conventions while pushing toward civic scale in the common areas.
My contribution at Indigenous Architects spanned the full design development phase: layout strategy, Revit BIM documentation, and BOQ preparation ahead of the budgeting submission in late 2023.
